Better Offer

Yes no maybe - blog pic

Better Offer

A word to wise

A warning to beware

If you take a better offer

Others will be aware

If you say you’ll go

But then renege

When something better is offered

You give away that you ain’t so big

If you wanna be seen

With only the popular crowd

One day you’ll wake up

To find snobs not allowed

When you hurt others

By going back on your word

When they wise up

Your company will not be the preferred

Believe it or not

The world doesn’t revolve around you

Others have lives to arrange

They’re busy too

When you take a better offer

You cast a pall

You make the person who invited you first

Feel unimportant and small

Cos you might think

They’ll never know

But these things have a way

Of coming to light and being put on show

Besides, being caught out

Should not be the main concern

Being a true and loyal person

Is what we all need to learn

A person who shows respect

And concern for the feelings of all

Who doesn’t show favouritism

Who cares for the lowly and small

Because Jehovah will see

And Jehovah will know

Our motives and acts of love

Or the lack, our actions show

So let your yes be yes

Let your no be no

When you say you’re going

The Paupers Prize

Evil Princess in Blue with Shadow - with quote

The Paupers Prize

I have a tale to tell

A story the wise will listen to

A fairy tale nightmare

Told from a cautionary view

It’s the story of a Princess

And a Pauper too

The Princess wanted something

That the Pauper came to rue

Never stand between

A Princess and her Prize

Or she’ll use her sharpened tongue

To gauge out your eyes

She’ll send her witless courtiers

To torture you to death

And her witchy mother

With her poisonous breath

A Princess gets what she wants

No matter what the price

Even if it means slaughter

With charm and with lies

Her smile is sweet as saccharine

A most cunning device

But all the time she’s plotting

Your imminent demise

She’ll flatter you so sincerely

All the while concealing a knife

So if you have any sense

You’ll run for your life

She’ll take your magic mirror

She’ll steal your golden hope

She’ll lock you in a dungeon

Leave you dangling on a rope

While her court jesters entertain

With music and with joke

Your home she’ll be burning

To ashes and smoke

As she prances and poses

In glittering gowns and jewelled shoes

She sweeps everything away

With her killer baby blues

She’ll do the merry dance

She’ll sing the siren song

A Princess can do anything

And she’s never wrong

What she wants she always gets

With absolutely no exception

She makes sure her subjects

Give her all their attention

Everything shiny, sparkling, new

Everything outwardly sugar and spice

But in reality everything inside

Is malice, creepy crawlies and lice

So she’ll rampage and rage

Until she’s conquered and won

And where can a poor Pauper

Hope to run?

For a shallow soul

With calculated ambition

Will not see

And why should she listen?

A spoilt Princess

Rules with an iron hand

She does not care

And she can’t understand

So she sent her assassins

Who killed with stories and lies

So she could take what she coveted

The Paupers Prize

But the day the Pauper died

Was a beginning and an end

The Princess took her treasure

And the Pauper lost a friend

Now she’s preening in her mirror

Crowing over her Prize

The Princess hides so confidently

Behind her practised disguise

She polishes her crown

A confection of cardboard and glitter

She displays all the paste Jewels

She had made so perfectly to fit her

She must appear the perfect Princess

For she desires to become a Queen

So to keep her prestige and power

She stomps on Golden Mean

But for all her cold castles

And despite her wind up marching band

Her rampaging royal rump

Has been built on shifting sand

One day a perfect storm

Will wash it all away

All her subjects will be gone

Her kingdom left in disarray

No more glittering jewels

No more courtiers and witchy mother

No more disguises

No where to run for cover

She’ll find herself exposed

As an ugly crooked crone

Sitting cackling toothless

On a rusty tin throne

So the lesson is clear

The moral is this:

Never trust a Princess

One day you’ll discover – she’s a witch

“Woe to you… hypocrites! Because you resemble whitewashed graves which outwardly indeed appear beautiful  but inside are full of dead men’s bones”

– Jesus Christ, Matthew 23:27

Liberated - Black

Free to fly

Free to live

Liberated to finally

Just forgive

Nothing to think

Nothing left to tell

No more need

To sit and dwell

No more heart ache

No more fears

None of those bitter

Midnight tears

Allowed to forget

Allowed to move on

Permitted to let

What is past just be gone

What I almost forgot

What is plain to see

Is that He was always right there

Alone with me

Others turned away

Others didn’t want to know

But he never ever

Let me go

It was down to the end

It was down to the wire

And it was then

He plucked me from the fire

He was there

He held on tight

Slaying all my demons

Without a fight

I learnt a lesson

I learnt something I already knew

Give over your burden

And He’ll carry it for you

You’ve done what you can

You’ve done all you could

Tried to do your best

To do what you should

But if you still don’t know

But if you still can’t see

Then it’s time to just

Let it be

Time to stand still

Time to wait without doubt

Because He is listening

He hears your shout

Wait and be patient

Wait and be calm

Even the toughest, fiercest enemy

He can disarm

There is an answer

There is a way

But you can’t see it

When you’re in the fray

Can’t see the puzzle

Can’t see the pieces coming together

You don’t know when or how

Or even whether

But He can

He does

So you just have to hold on

And trust

Trust He hears

Trust He does care

Don’t let those demons

Drive you from Him in despair

You’ll see Him act

You’ll feel it in your soul

When He holds out His hand

And pulls you from that deep, dark, black hole

He pulled me out

He set me free

And now I can finally

Just be me

I feel warmth again

I feel alive

I know now there’s nothing

I can’t survive

It’s a new sun that’s rising

It’s a brand new day

And as I stand to greet it

The shackles slip away

Tomorrow is clear

Tomorrow is light

The sky tomorrow

Is wide and bright

A cloud with a silvery lining

A rainbow appears

My eyes are washed

With happy tears

My eyes see

My heart sings

And I can feel the wind

Under new found wings

Lifted off my feet

Lifted into the blue

I’ve never seen

A more beautiful view

Soaring into tomorrow

Soaring into the free

Liberated to never forget

What He did for me

“For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand,

The one saying to you: ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you.’”

– Isaiah 41:13

“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

– Jesus Christ, Matthew 19:26

“My very heart is in severe pain within me

and the frights of death itself have fallen upon me.

Fear, yes, trembling itself enters into me

And shuddering covers me

And I kept saying: O that I had wings as a dove has!

I would fly away and reside

Look! I would go far away in flight

I would lodge in the Wilderness.

I would hasten to a place of escape for me

From the rushing wind

From the tempest…

For it was not an enemy that proceeded to reproach me

Otherwise I could put up with it…

But it was you, a mortal man who was my equal

One familiar to me and my acquaintance

Because we used to enjoy sweet intimacy together

Into the house of God we used to walk with the throng…

As for me, to God I shall call out

And Jehovah himself will save me

Evening and morning and noontime I cannot but show concern and I moan

And he hears my voice.

He will certainly redeem my soul in peace from the fight that is against me…

Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself

And he himself will sustain you.

Never will he allow the righteous one to totter…

As for me – I shall trust you.”

– David Son of Jesse, Psalms Chapter 55

2 Chronicles 20 - Black

When you’ve seen a miracle performed in a very personal way in your own life – something impossible, something that meant everything to you – you never forget. And you find ways to say ‘thank you’ every single day afterwards. ~ Rach

When The Cock Crows

When the cock crows

When The Cock Crows

Those words he spoke still ring in my ears

Echoing my innermost still festering fears

“If you leave me you’ll be alone without friends

Because the ones you look up to

Won’t care once all this ends

They’ll turn their backs and walk away

They’re not the kind who’ll stay

They won’t want to make any sacrifice to see it through

So they’ll all turn their backs on you.”

I didn’t believe him, told him he was wrong

I believed I still had a place to belong

But sadly, it turns out the snake was right

And just like him, reality has a nasty bite

I never would have believed what I’d been told

Didn’t think anyone’s heart could really be that cold

But it seems some people fake it so well

You just can’t see

They aren’t the way they pretend to be

Their hearts are hard

Though they politely say all the right things

Not seeming to comprehend

The hurt their callousness brings

Too worried about how they look to others

Their appearance

Being about all their small heart covers

That they can ignore the broken hearted in their need

Betrays their hearts are too empty even to bleed

They expect kindness, understanding and care

But when it comes to giving it

Their shallow hearts are bare

I never would have believed that I’d see the day

Years of kindness and friendship

Could be so quickly tossed away

I stood by them through thick and thin

Put myself out and took them in

I didn’t listen when the gossips my ear would bend

I defended them, determined to be a friend

I cried with them, played the clown to make them laugh

But it seems it just wasn’t enough

Not enough to make them care

Not enough to have them want to be there

Instead malicious gossip was adopted as truth

Fiery feathers scattered, without thought or proof

A jealous, spiteful, witch hunt

An unfair war without a front

So I’m still living this nightmare not of my making

I’m still giving, while the vultures are taking

Just can’t understand what I did

To make them so hardened

Because any sin they could’ve committed

I would’ve pardoned

Hurt more than I know how to express

They obviously were not

‘A brother born for the time of distress’

Still, there are one or two

Who have been uniquely loyal, loving and true

But as for all the fickle, the popular, the rest

They just didn’t pass test

Although I can’t even tell you when they turned to go

I’ve certainly heard that Cock crow

But I refuse to let them change me

I refuse to accept this is how it’s always going to be

I hope one day those frozen hearts will thaw

And melting, begin to bleed

Those closed minds will open to see and feel another’s need

That scales will fall from blind eyes, and finally they will see

How true friends should really be.

“Truly I say to you…

This night before a cock crows twice

Even you will disown me three times.”

– Jesus Christ, Mark 4:30

“Never explain.

Your friends do not need it

And your enemies will not believe it anyway”

– Elbert Hubbard

“People don’t ever seem to relate

That doing what’s right

Is no guarantee against misfortune”

– William McFee

I Can See

I can see

I Can See

I can see a vast rainbow sky

Through all the tears that I cry

I can see laughter in the rain

Washing away the sadness and the pain

I can see the sun breaking through

Turning all the gray to blue

I can see stars sparkling out on the water

And somehow the nights seem shorter

I can see hope in full bloom

As truth sweeps away the gloom

I can see someone holding out a hand

And suddenly it’s not so hard to stand

I can see a heart like mine

As two lost souls combine

I can see a smiling face

As everything falls into place

I can see a word to trust

And all my doubt turns to rust

I can see music in the night

A free spirit dancing soft and light

I can see stars in candlelight

And all the sorrow blinks out of sight

I can see forever in kind eyes

Warmth beside me at sunrise

I can see laughter on the air

A life so rich and without care

I can see children running at play

On a balmy summers day

I can see a family together

No big storms to weather

I can see happiness welling so high

It almost reaches to the sky

I can see a white house by the sea

A place my heart longs to be

I can see water lapping below

As gentle waves ebb and flow

I can see a comfy room

Roses and lilies in fragrant bloom

I can see air and light

And everything feels so right

I can see a butterfly’s fluttering grace

Through sunshine and lace

I can see birds singing loud and strong

Like nothing ever was wrong

I can see work to be done

But somehow it’s nothing but fun

I can see a life built on faith

Each brick solid and ever safe

I can see mountain vistas grand

Testifying to what will always stand

I can see green grass sway

As the sun sets golden on another day

I can see hugs and kisses given

To long missed faces that have arisen

I can see every thing as it should be

Long muted voices singing free

I can see waking up every day

To dreams budding out of decay

I can see a time long surreal

Suddenly becoming all so real

I can see a dark winter forever past

As humanity’s spring time comes at last

I can see a dark night over

As light bursts forth like a supernova

I can see joy and peace and love

Falling down from up above

I can see a life meant to be

A life meant for you and me

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. “

– John 3:16, Jesus Christ

“For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart. But exult, you people, and be joyful forever in what I am creating…  no more will there be heard in her the sound of weeping or the sound of a plaintive cry.” “No more will there come to be a suckling a few days old from that place, neither an old man that does not fulfill his days…  And they will certainly build houses and have occupancy; and they will certainly plant vineyards and eat their fruitage. They will not build and someone else have occupancy; they will not plant and someone else do the eating. For like the days of a tree will the days of my people be; and the work of their own hands my chosen ones will use to the full. They will not toil for nothing, nor will they bring to birth for disturbance; because they are the offspring made up of the blessed ones of Jehovah, and their descendants with them. And it will actually occur that before they call out I myself shall answer; while they are yet speaking, I myself shall hear.”

– Isaiah 65:17-24

“I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.”

– Acts 24:15, the Apostle Paul

Look Up

Look Up

Look Up

I looked up at the stars last night
Burning so clear, so radiant, so bright
And wondered about galaxies distant eons away
And thought about a happy future day

I drifted around in my mind to a time
When all hurts are healed and everything is fine
When those sleeping safe will wake up
When life will be an endless full cup

I thanked my friend there up above
Who sent his dearest one with love
Who gave a gift we can never repay
A hope that can illuminate the darkest day

I wondered what I would have been
If I had never known it, if I had never seen
The truth, the way, that bright shining light
Like the stars above, beacons of hope in the night

I saw around me the ones who have given in
Those that are looking down or are looking in
They do not look above to the hope sparkling there
They only see the now, and so they despair

Then I saw also, those who look up in the night
They look to the future, look to the right
Those who have made a friend of that one up above
Who know his care and feel his love

I could see them smiling though the sun goes down
They survive the storms in which others drown
Like me, they look up to see burning stars shining still
Knowing with certainty, that their hope is real

– 1 Thessalonians 4:13, the Apostle Paul

“Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgment.”
