Trust

Much more observant than I seem

I see all the in between

I know what lies behind the words

I see the nouns in the verbs

I’ve seen the signs and heard the tales

I know how the wind can fill those sails

When gossip blows no anchor can hold and stay

And a reputation is simply blown away

Critical tongues cut and rake

As their pound of flesh they take

They don’t regard the pain they cause

As salt they pour on still festering sores

Trying to prove superior by critical talk

Is like trying to carve a stone with chalk

It’s pointless and useless and it doesn’t work

All it ever achieves is hurt

Jealousy is a devouring beast

When it finds a target, it finds a feast

It picks and pokes and whips, until it draws blood

And what begins as a trickle, all too soon becomes a flood

So I look and listen and I take note

And I don’t jump on just any boat

I don’t give my trust to those without heart

If I see them coming, I depart

For I’m not as young as you might think

I’ve stood upon hell’s fiery brink

I’ve been to the war and seen the slain

I’ve seen how lies kill and maim

Deep as a well inside this skin

The clown facade is light and thin

Serious lurks just beneath

A vigilant warrior against any fickle thief

The vague is just a disguise I wear

A shield against what I cannot bear

Knowledge burns behind tired eyes

Experience has left them worldly wise

Seeing things that most would miss

Always expecting the Judas kiss

Hoping over and over to be wrong

Even as sound the first notes of that familiar song

Trust is given at great risk and cost

And trust is never ever simply lost

It departs like fireworks on a new years day

It bursts without warning and then fades away

As wreaths of sorrow for innocence we lay

It takes an odyssey to regain something still in decay

Born from the ashes of loss and grief

A shrewd phoenix rises from the fire with new belief

When the price of gaining wisdom has been betrayal

Born from life’s stinging hail

It’s difficult to let another in

It takes time to learn how to believe again

All too clearly you can see the coming pain

So you withdraw early from the game

You hide, you run, you disappear

You cloak yourself with a fake veneer

Sometimes you wish you didn’t know

You couldn’t see how things will go

That you were stupid and thick and dumb

That you hadn’t had to learn to run

That experience hadn’t given you new eyes

That you still believed all the lies

That you hadn’t lost those rose coloured glasses

That you still saw over every fence, greener grasses

Because although you have learnt to let go and forgive

To simply live and let live

You don’t expect anything from anyone anymore

Self sufficiency keeps the cold from the door

But when amongst the rocks you do find a gem

You treasure it for always, just as you did back then

The diamonds in your life are brighter than before

Because they’ve been through the fire and the war

The most beautiful diamond sparkling bright

Is the one you found on the deepest, darkest night

It’s the most valuable treasure of your life

Made indestructible through all the strife

A shiny new trust that will never fade

Born from standing beneath the blade

Faith and trust in your Father above

Hope, strong and solid in the God of all love

He’s there to carry you where you can’t walk

All the things He says are more than just talk

He’s shown you over and over, He will always be there

He will always come through, He will always care

Someday soon He will bring an end

To all the sorrow and grief, and the need to pretend

His world will bring a paradise of truth

Where you will be able to trust without proof

Where friends are real in word and deed

Where words are meant and can be believed

Where you never need fear to let yourself be known

For genuine people will be where ever you roam

Walls will come apart brick by brick

No matter how long they’ve been up, no matter how thick

A healing of souls long torn to shreds

As flowers bloom in what were once thorny beds

Tired eyes will smile on that day

I’ll open the doors and let the vigilance blow away

The clown will dance for real and not for fake

A heart free to love, without fearing to break

Trust will be reborn never to fade

No more wreaths will need ever more be laid

Jehovah will see and smile down from up above

As like mirrors we reflect his trust and indestructible love

Don’t Understand

Forbear to judge - swift Kick

Don’t Understand

There are so many things I just don’t understand

They leave me wondering, leave me scratching my head

Puzzled and bemused by things that have been done

By words written or things said

Negative, critical, bitter, jealous, or judgmental

Competitive, shallow, vain, arrogant, and mean

It all just confounds me, just does in my head

I don’t understand a judgmental attitude

Making critical comments about whether others do enough

Pointing out flaws and failings and such

The judgmental person must be extremely tough

For they walk around with a big rafter protruding from their eye

While attempting to extract the straws of others

With nothing more than their huff and their puff

I don’t understand the obsession with looks

Looks that fade and change

As transitory as green leaves in Autumn

Looks that in this life are impossible to maintain

It’s the person beneath the skin and bone that matters

For when the outside shell eventually crumbles

The person beneath is all that will remain

I don’t understand arrogance

That air of superiority, the know-it-all without regard

Putting others down just to feel the up

The need to boast, to impress, to shock, to awe

But in reality the life of a boaster is just one big facade

No one can live up to their own arrogant hype

When they fall, they fall hard

I don’t understand people who say mean things

Who use their tongue to slay

To make another feel hurt, feel bad

To take another’s joy and confidence away

Such ones betray their insecurity and unhappiness

Two things that will never change

Until they learn to consider with kindness the things they say

I don’t understand pretentiousness

The endless effort made to impress with the material thing

It’s the way of the world, not the way of the truth

Possessions are limited in the happiness they bring

There is always some newer, bigger, better, trendier, thing

Impressing with things is a striving after wind

People of real substance don’t care about bling bling

I don’t understand bitterness

Holding on tenaciously to the hurt and the grudge

It makes people sad and negative

It’s paralyzing, they can’t move on, can’t budge

The mole hill becomes a mountain

And the mountain is endlessly large

Bitterness makes permanent what should have been a wipe away smudge

I don’t understand competitiveness

Those who have to out do everyone else in every part of their life

Who must be ‘the’ popular single, the ‘it’ couple, the ‘super’ parents

The ‘successful’ husband, the ‘perfect’ wife

Unrealistic expectations of themselves and of others

Only lead to frustration and strife

Choking individuality, a place where real trust and friendship cannot survive

I don’t understand those who let jealousy get the upper hand

Who are not happy to let another shine

Who envy the attention, the happiness, or the nice things, another has

Who are always thinking ‘that should have been mine!’

It eats them up, leaves them hollow, feeds their discontent

Working to bring another down does not remove their issues and insecurity

Happiness is an elusive thing to a jealous mind

I don’t understand why some always have to be the leader

Always have to get their own way

They won’t give in easily or let someone else set the pace

They stomp their feet, throw a tantrum, grumble and criticism

Then wonder why people walk away

Lasting friendships can only be forged

When people feel respected, considered and are given a say

I don’t understand why we all strive to be an individual

But then let ourselves be squeezed into some satanic mold

Where we are taught to think his way, do his deeds and suffer his reward

Our life bought and sold

And what will be left when it’s all stripped away?

When it’s in with the new and out with the old?

Will a thing of warmth and beauty remain, or will we be a husk, shallow and cold?

So no – I don’t understand why we don’t remove all our own big rafters

Before commenting on another’s little straws

Why we don’t pay more attention to the inner person rather than the outer

Why we don’t close more easily bitter or jealous doors

Why we think things ‘make us’ rather than ‘fake us’

Why we strive for the bigger, better, cabin on a sinking ship

Why we continually seek human, rather than heavenly applause?

But despite all these things I don’t understand

I’ve found one thing that I do…

Imperfection is something with which we are all blighted

So how grateful we can be to that one up above

Who sent his son to release us, who keeps all our road ways lighted

Who understands our plight, who will continue to help us fight it

Until finally one happy day, all our wrong ways will become righted

” But the end of all things has drawn close.

Therefore, be sound in mind,

and be vigilant with a view to prayers.

Above all things, have intense love for one another,

because love covers a multitude of sins.”

Liberated

Liberated - Black

Liberated

Free to fly

Free to live

Liberated to finally

Just forgive

Nothing to think

Nothing left to tell

No more need

To sit and dwell

No more heart ache

No more fears

None of those bitter

Midnight tears

Allowed to forget

Allowed to move on

Permitted to let

What is past just be gone

What I almost forgot

What is plain to see

Is that He was always right there

Alone with me

Others turned away

Others didn’t want to know

But he never ever

Let me go

It was down to the end

It was down to the wire

And it was then

He plucked me from the fire

He was there

He held on tight

Slaying all my demons

Without a fight

I learnt a lesson

I learnt something I already knew

Give over your burden

And He’ll carry it for you

You’ve done what you can

You’ve done all you could

Tried to do your best

To do what you should

But if you still don’t know

But if you still can’t see

Then it’s time to just

Let it be

Time to stand still

Time to wait without doubt

Because He is listening

He hears your shout

Wait and be patient

Wait and be calm

Even the toughest, fiercest enemy

He can disarm

There is an answer

There is a way

But you can’t see it

When you’re in the fray

Can’t see the puzzle

Can’t see the pieces coming together

You don’t know when or how

Or even whether

But He can

He does

So you just have to hold on

And trust

Trust He hears

Trust He does care

Don’t let those demons

Drive you from Him in despair

You’ll see Him act

You’ll feel it in your soul

When He holds out His hand

And pulls you from that deep, dark, black hole

He pulled me out

He set me free

And now I can finally

Just be me

I feel warmth again

I feel alive

I know now there’s nothing

I can’t survive

It’s a new sun that’s rising

It’s a brand new day

And as I stand to greet it

The shackles slip away

Tomorrow is clear

Tomorrow is light

The sky tomorrow

Is wide and bright

A cloud with a silvery lining

A rainbow appears

My eyes are washed

With happy tears

My eyes see

My heart sings

And I can feel the wind

Under new found wings

Lifted off my feet

Lifted into the blue

I’ve never seen

A more beautiful view

Soaring into tomorrow

Soaring into the free

Liberated to never forget

What He did for me

“For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand,

The one saying to you: ‘Do not be afraid. I myself will help you.’”

– Isaiah 41:13

“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

– Jesus Christ, Matthew 19:26

“My very heart is in severe pain within me

and the frights of death itself have fallen upon me.

Fear, yes, trembling itself enters into me

And shuddering covers me

And I kept saying: O that I had wings as a dove has!

I would fly away and reside

Look! I would go far away in flight

I would lodge in the Wilderness.

I would hasten to a place of escape for me

From the rushing wind

From the tempest…

For it was not an enemy that proceeded to reproach me

Otherwise I could put up with it…

But it was you, a mortal man who was my equal

One familiar to me and my acquaintance

Because we used to enjoy sweet intimacy together

Into the house of God we used to walk with the throng…

As for me, to God I shall call out

And Jehovah himself will save me

Evening and morning and noontime I cannot but show concern and I moan

And he hears my voice.

He will certainly redeem my soul in peace from the fight that is against me…

Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself

And he himself will sustain you.

Never will he allow the righteous one to totter…

As for me – I shall trust you.”

– David Son of Jesse, Psalms Chapter 55

2 Chronicles 20 - Black

When you’ve seen a miracle performed in a very personal way in your own life – something impossible, something that meant everything to you – you never forget. And you find ways to say ‘thank you’ every single day afterwards. ~ Rach

You’ll Never

You'll Never

You’ll Never

You’ll never know

If you never ask

If you never say the words

You’ll never see

If you never go

If you never soar with the birds

You’ll never hear

If you never listen

If you never strive to belong

You’ll never sing

If you never try

If you never learn the song

You’ll never win

If you never lose

If you never experience loss

You’ll never own

If you never work

If you never want to pay the cost

You’ll never laugh

If you never cry

If you never own any emotion

You’ll never discover

If you never search

If you never plumb the depths of that ocean

You’ll never find

If you never look

If you never lose the fears that bind

You’ll never live

If you never love

If you never cherish what you find

You’ll never have

If you never hold

If you never risk a second glance

You’ll never feel

If you never trust

If you never take the chance

Gentle

Gentle

Gentle

Gentle blows the wind

gentle is the sea

gentle are the thoughts

that bring you to me

Gentle is the setting sun

gentle warmth does seep

gentle smile on my lips

as I fall asleep

Gentle are those eyes

gentle is that smile

gentle is the hand

that holds mine a while

Gentle words spoken

Gentle in the night

Gentle hearts take them in

and hold on to them tight

Gentle comes the feeling

gentle as a kiss

gentle like the rolling mist

that you just can’t miss

Gentle is the realisation

gentle the dawning thought

gentle comes the knowledge

that your heart is caught

Gentle are the wishes

gentle are the dreams

gentle is the hope

it’s all closer than it seems

Gentle stars twinkle above

gentle moon sitting low

gentle breezes whispering

all the truths they know

Gentle days drifting by

gentle souls that wait

gentle is their trust

happiness never comes too late

I’m The Girl

PicMonkey Collage

I’m The Girl

I’m the girl with the tired grin

The one still fighting not to give in

The one who sees rainbow skies

Even when that sun doesn’t rise

I’m the girl with broken dreams

The one much smaller than she seems

The one who just cannot see

Where the joy is in being set free

I’m the girl whose heart was pulled out through her lungs

The one who screams though no one comes

The one who’s strong because she’s had to be

A vagrant no one seems to see

I’m the girl who trusts him still

The one who feels and knows his love is real

The one without a doubt

He’ll hear her call and answer her shout

I’m the girl searching to belong

The one playing a newly discovered song

The one who thought she knew it all

Until the day she took that fall

I’m the girl who learnt the truth

The one who couldn’t ignore the proof

The one who cried and ran away

Until she saw that love just couldn’t stay

I’m the girl with wisdom born of fears

The one older than her years

The one who knows what it takes

To beat a heart until it breaks

I’m the girl without a reflection

The one left without any protection

The one who was forced to grow

A thickened skin to weather the blow

I’m the girl who hopes no one will ever know

The one who hopes the failure does not show

The one who prays that one shiny day,

Someone will see it but choose to love her anyway

I’m the girl carrying the load

The one walking wounded along that narrow road

The one negotiating rock and thorn

Waiting for a life to be reborn

I’m the girl with the lingering fear

The one who loses all those she holds dear

The one who refuses to let it beat her down

So she painted her face and became a clown

I’m the girl singing in the rain

The one rising above all the pain

The one who will always believe

That there is another out there just like me

I’m the girl refusing to be defeated

The one whose life has not yet been completed

The one bruised but not scarred by all the strife

Still seeing joy and color in this incredible life

I’m the girl with the happy feet

The one dancing all alone to a different beat

The one who’ll love you even when

You’re about to hurt her all over again

I’m the girl sleeping through the night

The one tunneling towards the light

The one holding while others flee

Facing realities too difficult for most to see

I’m the girl who’ll stand by your side

The one whose eyes have never lied

Enamored of that moonlit path in the night

Always following the silvery light

I’m the girl who will take you in

The one who’s the same as she’s always been

The one who knows the hidden you

And will still be there when it’s all through

I’m the girl who won’t let go

The one who loves even so

The one who will not give up

Still seeing that half filled cup

I’m the girl who still looks for the good

The one who believes you can and should

The one smiling in the dark and cold

Whose love cannot be bought or sold

I’m the girl wearing her heart on her sleeve

The one who will always grieve

The one who still thinks of his face

One who no other can replace

I’m the girl still striving for a way

The one who wants love and laughter every day

The one who wants forever and the universe

Believing in life beyond the curse

I’m the girl who sees beneath your skin

The one who knows where you fit in

The one longing for the day

She doesn’t have to hide her heart away

I’m the girl without a clue

The one no one ever knew

The one wanting to be seen

For the good, the bad and everything in between

I’m the girl smiling now

The one laughing because you showed her how

The one sleeping under a peaceful star

Because contentment is wherever you are

I’m the girl and you know its true

The one whose dreams are just of you

The one searching to find

That other soul with the same mind

I’m the girl with a glowing vision

The one reborn after the collision

The one sparkling beneath the grime

Just waiting for a true heart to find

“I have never looked upon ease and happiness as ends in themselves – such an ethical basis I call more proper for a herd of swine. The ideals which have lighted me on my way and time and time given me new courage to face life cheerfully have been: Truth Goodness and Beauty.”
